Cortland Chamber helps local restaurants through hard times

Local News

Last week brought a whirlwind of confusion and closures across New York State due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which finally arrived to Cortland County today in the form of two confirmed cases.

That comes a day after Governor Cuomo’s executive order shutting down all business and nonessential travel in the state, but all food establishments have been running on reduced operations (pickup/delivery only) since days prior.

A federal disaster declaration has also been approved by member of Congress and the President.

In an attempt to help Cortland area restaurants stay afloat, a partnership between the Chamber of Commerce, the Local Restaurant Association and X101 Always Classic created a special Facebook page dedicated to utilizing the community’s many delivery and carry-out options.

The page so far has just under 3,500 members and dozens of local businesses onboard.

Cortland Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Bob Haight called X101 this week to discuss the initiative further.
