Cortland Chamber Director Reviews Proposals To Ease Business Regulations

During May, Governor Andrew Cuomo and state legislature leaders solicited suggestions from businesses around the state to reduce the cost of doing business in New York – without compromising protections for workers.

Bob HaightThe recommendations are online, so we approached Cortland County Chamber of Commerce Director Bob Haight for his take.

He supports reforms aimed at making regulations more uniform. Haight says it helps businesses to know the rules are consistent between towns or counties.

Haight suggests pay mandate reform could save some employers 50% on some costs. And lastly, proposed changes to estate tax

And lastly, proposed changes to estate tax thresholds could be a huge benefit to small and farm business owners.

The Chamber leader suggests with just days left in the current legislative session, it’s time for action in Albany.
