Cortaca is This Saturday – Celebrations Happening Friday & Saturday in Cortland

The biggest little game in college football is taking place this Saturday, November 15th at Ithaca College. This will be the 66th year Cortaca has been held between SUNY Cortland and Ithaca College. With that being said, celebrations for residents in the City of Cortland and surrounding area will kickoff on Friday, according to Crown City Rising.

Through the partnership between the City of Cortland, SUNY Cortland, and the Cortland County Restaurant and Tavern Association, the 2nd annual Crown City Cortaca Celebration will happen on Friday and Saturday, November 14th & 15th in Downtown Cortland.

“Whether you’re a Red Dragon alum, current student, local fan, or visiting for the weekend, downtown Cortland will be the place to gather, cheer, dance, and celebrate Red Dragon pride.” Crown City Rising says.

Celebrations will begin at 6pm Friday with the Cortaca Community Pep Rally. The rally will be hosted by the SUNY Cortland Student Activities Board. The event will include live performances and entertainment.

• Cortland Performing Arts Institute (6 p.m.)
• Boom Dance Complex (6:15 p.m.)
• Signature Dance (6:30 p.m.)
• Studio Z School of Dance (6:45 p.m.)

At 7pm Friday, special guests will include SUNY Cortland Football coaches and team captains, Student Government Association President, Mayor Scott Steve, and President Erik Bitterbaum, as they share messages of community and Red Dragon spirit. At 8pm, performances from SUNY Cortland’s cheer team, Ritmo Latino Dance Group, and Kickline will take place.

Attendees will also be able to enjoy food trucks, carnival games, temporary tattoo booths, prizes, a mechanical bull, and more.

On gameday itself, Saturday, November 15th, a viewing party will be held for those not going to Ithaca’s Butterfield Stadium on Main Street. The party will be under a heated tent in the parking lot between the Marketplace Mall and former VFW. The game will be live-streamed on a big screen.
