A Cornell University student has been charged by University Police in connection with a sexual assault that took place at a Fraternity house on Sunday, January 31st.
Wolfgang Ballinger, 21, of New York, was charged with first-degree attempted rape, first-degree criminal sexual assault and first-degree sex abuse, all felonies.
With help from the victim, police were able to identify Ballinger.
He turned himself over to Cornell police investigators on Thursday.
Ballinger was arraigned Ithaca City Court and remanded to the Tompkins County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond. He’s is due to reappear tomorrow (Tuesday) at 11am for a preliminary hearing.
Following the incident, the fraternity Psi Upsilon was suspended.
