Convicted Felon Arrested After Found Being in Possession of a Firearm
Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck says 56 year old Theodore Strauf of Locke was arrested on January 22nd following an investigation back in November last year. On November 14 around 11 pm, deputies with the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office responded to an address in Locke for a report of a person with a gun.
During their investigation, deputies determined Strauf was in possession of a firearm at the time of the incident. The Sheriff’s Office says Strauf was previously convicted of a felony and wasn’t allowed to possess a fire arm. The firearms were secured by the Sheriff’s Office, Schenck says, and a warrant was issued for his arrest for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th, a Felony.
On January 22, Officers with the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office located Strauf during a traffic stop and took him into custody. He was then turned over to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office. Strauf was processed and arraigned via the Centralized Arraignment Process. He was released on his own recognizance. Strauf is due in Locke Town Court next month.
