Connecticut Woman Arrested After Stealing Over $1,100 Worth of Items From Walmart
On Saturday, November 1st, State Police were dispatched to Walmart in Cortlandville for a reported larceny. Store employees told law enforcement two women, who were also accompanied by two children, filled a shopping cart full with over $1,100 worth of groceries and household items.
State Police also learned one of the women was seen leaving the store with the two children, but no merchandise. The second woman, State Police say, was then seen passing all points of sale without paying for any of the merchandise. The woman was then stopped by the store’s asset protection. However, the women would flee into the parking lot and leave the area in a vehicle.
A BOLO (Be on the Lookout) was issued by State Police to law enforcement agencies in the area of a description of the vehicle and its license plate. The vehicle was seen two days later, on November 3rd, by Cortland Police on Main Street. The vehicle was stopped and the two women were questioned by police. One woman, identified as 20 year old Gabrielle Renee Ocasci of Norwich Connecticut, was arrested. The second woman was not charged.
Ocasio is facing charges of Grand Larceny in the 4th, a Felony. She was later issued an appearance ticket to Cortlandville Town Court in December.
