The administration at SUNY Cortland Monday had to dispel “Widespread rumors of a suspicious person dressed as a clown on the SUNY Cortland campus Sunday night.”
A post on the college website says the reports “have not been substantiated, and no student appears to have been threatened or harmed.”
The statement continues: “Despite social media claims to the contrary, SUNY Cortland was never on lockdown and no student was ever in danger.”
The school adds that police couldn’t find any witnesses who saw a clown and none showed on the campus’ video surveillance system.
However, should students see anyone suspicious on campus they are urged to contact University Police immediately at 607-753-2111.
The statement recommends that you “should not confront the person in any way.”
