Sales tax revenues are up, and that’s good news for Cortland County and the rest of the state.
According to New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, sales tax revenue in Cortland County totaled $28.8 million in 2017, up 5.61% from 2016.
DiNapoli says a strong fourth quarter helped.
Cortland outpaced the state average, which was up 3.9%, and the Central New York Region, which averaged a 4.5% jump.
However, the state Comptroller warns local officials that it might be tough to forecast sales tax revenue with the changes in the federal tax code.
