Commuters – NYSDOT Announces Lane Restrictions Heading Into Syracuse From I81

For those who are traveling or commuting to the Syracuse area, the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) has announced I81 North will be reduced to a single lane of traffic between Exit 16 (Nedrow) and Exit 16A (I481 North).

The lane reduction will take effect this Monday, September 16th at 9am and last until 6am the following day. The NYSDOT also says the closure will then take effect at 9am Tuesday, September 17th and reopen at 6am Wednesday, September 18th.

The NYSDOT says the lane reductions are necessary to facilitate the reconstruction and paving of the right lane on I81. Delays are expected. All construction are weather permitting.

Driver’s are asked to use caution in the area and be aware of stopped traffic on I81 and obey posted speed limits. Fines are doubled for speeding in work zones, the NYSDOT says.
