Community Leader, Philanthropist James Yaman Dies At Age 96

James Yaman, the 96-year-old patriarch of the longtime realty firm in Cortland, died Tuesday night at his home, following a long illness.

His family was with him.

A longtime leader and philanthropist in the community, he may be best known to the public for helping establish Yaman Park.

Jim Yaman leaves a legacy of development and property management emanating from Cortland and Central New York.

Three generations of Yamans are part of that seven decades of history.

The Yaman agency recently merged with Cinquanti real estate.

Wright-Beard Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Jim Yaman would have turned 97 in May.
