The City of Cortland Common Council approved last night during the last Common Council meeting of the year to formalize agreements for certain property owners for City of Cortland Trash and Recycling pickup.

For many years the city has had an informal agreement with a number of residences and businesses to pick up trash and recycling that are not within the city limits, but are located on the City of Cortland’s trash and recycling pick up routes.

Cortland Mayor Scott Steve is now authorized by the council to enter into written agreements between the City of Cortland and residents and businesses located outside of the city limits, but are along the routes established by the city and Blue Moose Sanitation, Inc.

Residents and/or businesses agreeing for trash and recycling pickup will pay the City of Cortland an annual cost of $250 dollars for use of City provided trash and recycling totes, and also to comply with all requirements of the city’s trash and recycling program. The City of Cortland will still have a right to deny service if the city of Blue Moose has determined that a property is not among an established route or effect normal operations.
