Common Council Approves Additional Funds for Sidewalk Program in Cortland

The ever popular sidewalk program in the City of Cortland is getting additional funds after the current funds reached a maximum from homeowners wishing to have sidewalk repairs/replacement done in front of their properties.




The City of Cortland has been providing funds for homeowners with a portion of the cost to repair or replace sidewalks since 2001 in order to ensure pedestrian safety.

The for 2023 sidewalk program, the city allocated $20,000 for projects, but the funds have reached a maximum due to an increase in costs of labor and materials. Due to this, many applications for the program have been placed on a waitlist and have several additional applications outstanding.

The council voted unanimously to appropriate an additional $20,000 from the ARP funds to the 2023 sidewalk program.
