During last night’s Common Council meeting, the mayor and council voted on establishing a uniform policy on how the City of Cortland procures goods, supplies, equipment, and services that are necessary for city operations to be as efficient, effective, and economical as possible.
The policy approved now establishes that no city official or employee can have a financial interest in any contract entered into the municipality, and precludes the acceptance of gratuities, either financially or otherwise, from any supplier of materials or services to the City of Cortland.
The resolution passed unanimously by the Common Council and Mayor. All departments, offices and employees in the city will now be subject to the purchasing procedure as outlined in the policy titled City of Cortland Procurement Policy as Adopted by the Common Council on May 2, 2023.
