After being convicted in July of a rape that occurred more than a year ago, 59-year-old Raymond Cole Jr. was sentenced yesterday to spend 20 years in state prison.
Jurors deliberated on July 24 following two week trial that got delayed by four months due to COVID-19.
At that time, it was one of the few cases running in New York State — protocols for how it went about doing so were used as a liftoff point to get others back in motion.
Cole was ultimately found guilty of imprisoning, drugging and raping a woman from May 30 to June 3, 2019 at his residence on Brown Avenue.
He was acquitted on 14 other felonies linked to an incident he was accused of between June 1-3, 2019.
His criminal background spans more than four decades.
