The sudden cold snap over the last few days has caused scores of frozen water pipes.
Firefighters from local departments have suddenly found themselves called in as emergency plumbers due to a rash of burst water lines.
The sudden drop in temperatures caught some property owners off guard and poorly insulated piping has fallen prey to the frigid weather.
Temperatures are warming back up slowly and we could see 40’s by the weekend.
However, residents are reminded when the mercury drops below the freezing mark make sure you leave a trickle of water running especially in poorly insulated plumbing or pipes that are on exterior walls.
Leave cabinet doors open to allow heat to circulate.
Never attempt to thaw frozen pipes with open flames, use hairdryers or other indirect heating sources.
