CNY Mustang Club Makes Donation Towards Operation Safe Child ID Program Through Sheriff’s Office

The Central New York Mustang Club has provided a donation for the Cortland County Sheriff Offices Operation Safe Child ID program. Sheriff Mark Helms says this donation will go towards keeping the program operating at a high and efficient level.

Created back in 2005, the program raises awareness on child safety with a partnership with the New York State Police, NYPD, NYS Sheriff’s Association and the NYS Association of Chiefs of Police. The program also partners with the Division of Criminal Justice Services and its Missing and Exploited Children Clearinghouse.

According to Helms, the program has expanded into a multi-pronged campaign. It includes possessing up to date photographs and detailed information about parents/guardians children, which in turn can prove to be an important proactive measure that will assist law enforcement to quickly respond to a child’s disappearance. The ID cards, which are no charge, can be created in less than 2 minutes and can be carried in a wallet or pocketbook.
