Work is set to begin soon on the big gateway project in the city of Cortland.
That will be a multi-step process that will begin with the complete replacement of one of the city’s primary water lines underneath Clinton Avenue.
X101 News caught up with Mayor Brian Tobin on Friday (April 19) to talk about his state of the city address and he said residents could see ground breaking in the coming weeks.
Construction will take place from near the Interstate-81 exit all the way up to Main Street.
Crews from Adhan Piping will soon begin ripping up sections of Clinton Avenue to replace the outdated lines, which Tobin acknowledges will be an inconvenience for travelers.
“We understand this is a major route in and out of town and that it will be an inconvenience while it’s being worked on, but it’s also very important we’re keeping all of our infrastructure up to date.”
The city received a large grant from the state to help fund that construction.
