Residents in the City of Cortland may have noticed the road closure signs on Clinton Ave. between Main and Church St. are gone and through traffic is once again permitted.
X101 recently spoke with City of Cortland Public Works Superintendent Nic Dovi who provided us with additional information regarding the status of Clinton Ave.
Dovi stated that construction shall reach a substantial completion before the end of this month (November) with items left for the next construction season being projects such as road striping, planting and final restoration items.
It was noted that pedestrian walk signals and street lighting will be completed this month as well. Paving for the portion of the street was done quickly from October 27th to November 4th.
The contractor working on the project will continue through the next few weeks to work on sidewalks, paver installation, temporary striping, lighting, and signal work.
The City DPW will continue to leave in place appropriate detouring while the roadway is open to minimize (not eliminate) traffic.
Beginning early next week, contractor Comet Flasher Inc. will remove additional detouring signage that was in use during the paving stages of the project.
