The State Department of Civil Service says 40 county civil service agencies including Cortland are offering online exams for corrections officers to help with recruitment.
Those who are qualified for the exam can apply for it by May 12th through their local civil service agency and have the month of June to complete it. The test, which is being made available online in many counties for the first time, is being used to fill positions in county jails.
The online exam will require interested candidates to provide details on their training and experience with a questionnaire submitted by the candidate. According to estimates provided by the State Sheriffs Association, there are more than 1,000 correction officer positions to fill in counties across New York
