The City of Cortland Council approved last night in allowing the City School District pay the salary of its School Resource Officer Rob Reyngoudt, who is assigned part-time at the high school. Council member Bill Carpenter was part of the Cortland Police hiring years ago.
“Officer Reyngout was selected. It was one of the best decisions the police department has ever made for the district, the community. He’s built so many ties with the students over the years.” -Bill Carpenter
With the money saved by the school district move, the city may be able to hire another patrol officer, and members supported the school district adding to its school resource officers. The City of Cortland has been paying for the position since it was created.
