City police warn of spike in thefts from unlocked cars

Local News

Cortland City Police are once again reminding residents to keep their vehicles and homes locked, after six separate complaints in one day involving thefts from unlocked vehicles.

Lt. Michael Strangeway said each of these incidents were reported on Friday (August 21) in the Northeastern corner of the city, near Kennedy Parkway and Morningside Drive.

He says bicycle thefts are also a daily occurrence, reminding owners to also keep those locked up at all times.

Anyone who experiences a burglary themselves should contact local authorities.
