City of Cortland to Kick-off Ward Walks – Part of Community Outreach by City

On Wednesday, April 30th, the City of Cortland will begin their ten-week long community outreach effort called Ward Walks. The ward walk will begin in the city’s Ward 1 with Cortland Mayor Scott and members of the Common Council walking through the neighborhoods of each of the City of Cortland’s seven wards.

During the walk the mayor and members of Common Council will engage directly with residents, assess conditions within that ward, and listen to any concerns or ideas. All residents are invited to participate in the ward walks.

“The goal of this initiative,” Mayor Steve said, “is to assess the state of city streets, sidewalks, green spaces and housing stock, as well as to hear ideas and concerns firsthand from residents. Together, let’s take a closer look at our neighborhoods, the future we’re building and ways to improve them.”

The ward walks will begin at 5pm from a designated starting point. The City of Cortland says the walks are also a great opportunity to get outside, stretch your legs and connect with your neighbors and city leadership.

“With the transition from a two-year to a four-year election cycle, the City is doubling down on our commitment to transparency and access. We are focused on building a stronger relationship between residents and their local government, and we are going to start by meeting you where you are. We look forward to walking with you through your neighborhood and into a better future.” The City of Cortland said in a release.
