City of Cortland Police Chief Recognizes Another Officer – TLC Gives Recognition

The City of Cortland Police Chief, Paul Sandy, during Tuesday’s Common Council meeting recognized another police officer within the department. Chief Sandy recognized Officer Tyler Zacek for two events.

Chief Sandy told the Mayor, Common Council, and members of the public attending of his work during a domestic violence investigation back in January of this year. The investigation was related to a person stalking their victim at their workplace and other areas in the city. Officer Zacek’s work led to the suspect being arrested and charged.

The second recognition was a Life Saving Award for Officer Zacek’s role in a cardiac arrest call. He was the first to arrive on scene and began life-saving care until EMTs were able to arrive on scene. Officer Zacek also works for TLC Ambulance in Cortland and his medical experience has been utilized on multiple occasions Chief Sandy noted.

Trish Hansen, Division Manager for TLC Emergency Medical Services, Inc. also presented Zacek with a recognition for his life-saving work for the patient. Hansen noted with his quick response and actions, the patient who suffered a cardiac event was speaking and alert with EMTs while on route to the hospital.
