City of Cortland Listed As Susceptible to Fiscal Stress by NY Comptroller

New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli has announced the latest fiscal stress scores with a total of 14 local governments ending their fiscal year 2022 with a fiscal stress designation.

The Comptroller’s office says the determinations were based on the Comptroller’s Fiscal Stress Monitoring System (FSMS) scores that were released yesterday.

“Our fiscal stress early warning system identifies potential financial problems for local governments so they can take corrective action to avoid problems down the road,” DiNapoli said.

In the report released, which may be found in its entirety here, the City of Cortland was named by the Comptroller’s Office as one of the 7 local governments that is susceptible to fiscal stress. It was noted though between 97 and 99 percent of local governments are currently in a no designation category.
