City of Cortland Hosting Retiree Health Insurance Information Sessions Today & Tuesday
The City of Cortland says they have found a better option for healthcare insurance that would also help save the city over $3 million in 2026. An overview of the proposed change was discussed by Director of Administration & Finance, Elizabeth Greenwood and Corporation Counsel for the City, Randall Lewis, back on October 21st.
The change will need approval by the Common Council. Lewis has previously said the insurance coverage that would be provided would be an improvement for all city employees.
To help answer questions regarding the change in the city’s retiree health insurance, the city will host two information sessions with two scheduled for today, Thursday, November 6th. Another two sessions will take place on Tuesday, November 11th.
Today, one will begin at 10am on the third floor of City Hall at 25 Court Street; a second session will take place at 5pm this evening. Tuesdays will take place in the same location with one at 10am and the second at 3pm. All meetings will also be available to attend virtually via Zoom through the city website. The Meeting Room ID is 923 566 4700.
A virtual-only session will also be held on Friday, November 14th from 1pm to 2pm through Microsoft Teams. To participate in the virtual meeting on the 14th, you will need to email Jade at Mayorofc@CortlandNY.gov to receive the link.
During the information session for city retirees, information will be provided on Excellus BCBS Medicare PPO Member Booklet and a presentation of the 2026 Excellus Medicare.
