City of Cortland Environmental Advisory Committee Meets Tonight

The City of Cortland Environmental Advisory Committee will meet tonight, January 9th at 7pm at the Cortland Wastewater Treatment Facility at 251 Port Watson St. in the facilities conference room.








The meeting is a rescheduling of a meeting that took place earlier this month, but did not have a quorum due to the holiday.

The committee’s agenda is listed below:

1. Approve Minutes

2. Reports
a. No Mow May Common Council presentation and vote
b. Vermicomposting project status
c. Soil and Water Conservation recommendation about Water Works use

3. Unfinished Business
a. FOG and recommendations to the city
b. Vermicomposting – Is a recommendation memo still needed?
c. Street tree selection and recommendation memo

4. New Business
a. Food waste – collection and composting challenges
b. Recycling collection and its cost – why isn’t more recycled and what can be done
c. Green energy challenges – electric grid capacity
