City of Cortland Common Council Voices Support For Senior Housing Project

During last nights Common Council meeting, the Council voted unanimously to allow Mayor Scott Steve to write letters of support regarding a proposed senior housing project on River Street in the City of Cortland by the Cortland Housing Assistance Council Inc.

The letters of support will go to the New York State Homes and Community Renewal and other agencies who may provide supporting initiatives for the project. The proposed housing project would be located at 33 River Street in the City of Cortland. The housing project would be only for those aged 62 years and older and are income eligible. The building would be 3 stories with 53 single bedroom apartments.

The project is led by the Cortland Housing Assistance Council, Inc. which is a private, not-for-profit housing agency within Cortland County. Currently, the Cortland Housing Assistance Council, Inc. plans to apply for the New York State Homes and Community Renewal for Low-income Housing Tax credits, the Senior Housing Fund Program and other initiatives for funding.
