A Cortland man was arrested Sunday (February 23) night for using a baseball bat to assault his housemate during an argument-turned-violent.
City police responded to a residence on Pomeroy Street around 9:30 pm, where they say 53-year-old David Sneed, II, was engaged in a verbal dispute with a 33-year-old man when he suddenly brandished a baseball bat and hit the victim in the head, knocking him to the floor.
Lt. David Guerrera says Sneed then continued hitting the victim repeatedly in the head, chest, and arms, causing serious injuries to his head and lungs.
The blows also caused extensive bruising on his arms, head, back, and chest.
Sneed was due back in court yesterday to face two felony charges for 1st Degree Attempted Assault and 3rd Degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon.
