A Cortland man was arrested for falsely reporting two of his co-workers for serious crimes to city police.
On December 28, fifty-year-old Richard George, of Elm Street, told officers he knew a 53-year-old man who was selling drugs and engaging in sexual relations with his own daughter.
Police say both accusations turned out to be lies that George told because he was mistreated by the man at a restaurant the two worked at together.
This brought investigators back to a November 2019 incident, which involved a 53-year-old woman who was accused of selling drugs and abusing her children by an anonymous complainant.
That also turned out to be a false report. Police later discovered it came from George over a misunderstanding at the same restaurant. The woman was also a co-worker.
George was charged two misdemeanor counts of Falsely Reporting an Incident in the Third Degree.
He was released to appear in city court on February 19.
