City Firefighters Extinguish 2-Alarm Blaze Quickly

Cortland City Firefighters yesterday afternoon just after 3 pm responded to Ames Linen. The 911 center got multiple calls of smoke billowing from the roof from their location on Huntington Street.



City Firefighters called a 2nd alarm to bring in additional manpower.

Cortlandville, Virgil and Homer firefighters responded to the scene. McGraw firefighters responded to the city fire department’s HQ to provide coverage in the city.

It took firefighters about 20 minutes to extinguish the fire, reportedly in an appliance.

No injuries to occupants or firefighters was reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
