Jensen also served as a training officer for other municipal fire departments, teaching life-saving skills such as CPR and fire prevention strategies.

He began as a volunteer in Cortland in 1997.

Prior to his time fighting fires, Jensen was a nurse and says he intends to return to that profession at Cayuga Medical Center once retired.

There, he’ll continue teaching some of the same skills to medical professionals.

As the city’s fire prevention coordinator, Jensen visited WXHC in October 2019 with Chief Wayne Friedman for a segment on National Fire Prevention Week.
