The City of Cortland has announced they’re moving City Court space to the County Courthouse.
At Tuesday night’s Common Council meeting, it was announced the City of Cortland wants to move city court, saying it will benefit all citizens of Cortland County and help reduce costs for the city.
Mayor Scott Steve noted it’s been a process in the making.
The city and the county would put in place an agreement where the county agrees to provide within the Cortland County Courthouse space for Cortland City Court.
The Courthouse currently is under renovation and would include the county renovating a space for city court.
This agreement would be for twenty years according to the agreement between both municipalities.
No timeline was given as to when city court would move to the courthouse as renovations would need to take place.
