City Attorney Meldrim Resigns From Position – Takes New Job in County Court
The City of Cortland Attorney, AJ Meldrim, has resigned from his position with the City of Cortland as Corporation Council as of Tuesday last week. Reasoning for his resignation is due to him taking a law clerk position with Cortland County Court with the Honorable Julie Campbell.
Meldrim has served as city attorney since January 4th, 2022. In a letter to Meldrim by Cortland Mayor Scott Steve, Steve expressed his regret towards Meldrims resignation and added he understands Meldrims wishes in furthering his career in public service.
“Your leadership has been instrumental in navigating complex legal challenges and ensuring that the city’s operations adhered to the highest and ethical standards. Your expertise and commitment to public service have protected the interest of our city and served to advance the city’s welfare and quality of life.” Mayor Steve said in a letter to Meldrim.
No formal replacement has been named as of yet to fill the city attorney’s position.
