Cincinnatus Man Arrested After Truck Crashes into Ditch in Town of Virgil Early Wednesday Morning
New York State Police say Troopers responded to a reported car crash by Cortland County 9-1-1 Dispatch in the early morning hours of Wednesday, October 15th. Troopers responded to the area of Parker Street in Virgil and found a Dodge pick-up truck that was stuck in a ditch.
State Police speaking with the driver, later identified as 55 year old Gary A. Kouril of Cincinnatus, State Police say Kouril originally provided Troopers with a different name before Troopers were able to correctly identify who he was. State Police say Kouril also displayed characteristics associated with impairment.
Further investigation led to Troopers arresting and charging Kouril with Felony Driving While Intoxicated due to a previous conviction, 2 Counts of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the first, also a Felony, and Circumventing an Interlock Device, a Misdemeanor.
He was taken to the State Police Barracks at Homer for processing where Troopers learned of his previous DWI conviction, and also not having a valid driver’s license and driving without a court-ordered ignition interlock device. Following his processing, he was taken to the Cortland County Jail for Centralized Arraignment.
