The Cincinnatus Fire Department has announced they have partnered with the Healing Hearts Collaborative and Healing Cortland in installing an N-POD (Narcan Point of Distribution) at the fire station.
The N-POD is located at the front of the fire station and will be available for community members in and around Cincinnatus. The fire department asks residents who may know someone with an opioid addiction, to be prepared with narcan incase of an overdose.
Last month, the Truxton Fire Department announced the installation of their N-POD at the station. The N-POD will be secured in a plastic housing mounted to a wall and will contain 9 doses of Narcan nasal spray. Narcan, also known as Naloxone, is a medication approved to reverse overdose by opioids and is given to a person showing signs of an opioid overdose. It will block the toxic effects of the overdose and will restore breathing to an individual.
