CHS Sendoff For Special Olympic Athletes Grows Bigger Every Year

Local News, Local Sports

Students from the Cortland High School Life Skills and Team classes competed Thursday at the Special Olympics in Cicero.

One of the teachers, Judy Thomas told X101 that the team enjoyed a huge sendoff. “When we first started Special Olympics we’d walk out all by ourselves,” said Thomas. “Then, the next year, maybe Study Hall would come out. And now everyone comes out and it’s a great support for us, we have so much fun!”

The Cortland students were part of about a thousand students who participated in a Special Olympics Track and Field competition in Cicero on Thursday.

Here are some photos as the team prepared to board buses to Syracuse.
