Centro Turns Bus Pink For Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign

A Centro bus is turning pink for the month of October as Central New York community leaders join forces to raise awareness and funds in the fight against breast cancer.

The specially wrapped bus was unveiled Thursday morning at Crouse Health’s Sandra & Bill Pomeroy Center for Community & Wellness in Syracuse, marking the launch of the 2026 Central New York Men Wear Pink campaign.

The bus, designed and produced by Lamar Advertising, will travel throughout the region during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Organizers say the goal is to keep breast cancer awareness, early detection, research and support for patients and families visible throughout the community.

“Centro is about connecting people and moving our community forward, and that mission extends beyond simply getting people from one place to another,” Centro CEO Christopher Tuff said. “When we can use our buses to shine a light on an important cause and help bring people together around it, we have an opportunity to make a difference.”

The Men Wear Pink campaign brings together Central New York community leaders who raise money for the American Cancer Society. Funds support breast cancer research, patient programs, education, advocacy and other efforts aimed at reducing the impact of the disease.

“Breast cancer impacts so many people in our community, and Men Wear Pink gives us an opportunity to come together and make a meaningful difference,” said Melanie Francis, senior manager for the American Cancer Society.

Thirty Central New York ambassadors are participating in this year’s campaign, representing businesses, health care, education, government, media and other organizations throughout the region.

Crouse Health is serving as the campaign’s presenting sponsor and hosted Thursday’s launch. Crouse President and CEO Seth Kronenberg said the hospital’s support reflects the impact breast cancer can have on patients and families throughout the community.

The pink bus will remain on the road throughout October, providing a highly visible reminder of the campaign as ambassadors work to raise funds.

Lamar Advertising also contributed to the effort by designing and producing the bus wrap.
