Central New York Police Chiefs Honor Veterans with Wreaths and Donations
This past Saturday members of the Central New York Chiefs of Police Association, including Chief Pitman of the Homer Police Department, joined military personnel and local volunteers for the annual National Wreaths Across America ceremony at the Veterans Cemetery on Onondaga Hill. The event was part of a nationwide effort at over 4,800 locations to remember and honor veterans by placing wreaths on their graves and respectfully saying the name of the fallen hero aloud.
Following the ceremony, members of the Chiefs of Police Association continued their support for local veterans by visiting the Veterans Hospital in Syracuse. There, they delivered clothing that had been generously donated for veterans by the Homer Men and Boys Store, courtesy of store manager Rob Garrison. The association also provided other needed items to veterans residing at the hospital.
