Cortland County saw a more than five-percent decrease in population between 2010-2020, according to data from the recently completed U.S. Census.
Municipalities that suffered the worst drops in residents were Cincinnatus (-14.6%); Willet (-14.3%); Taylor (-13.6%); and Truxton (-12%).
Slight growth was recorded in just four of the 14 towns and villages counted.
Marathon and Lapeer increased by 3.6% and 3.7% respectively. Virgil went up by 1% and Freetown by 1.3%.
