As of April 15th, there have been 3,793 COVID-19 samples collected in Tompkins County since screening began. Cayuga Health encourages more residents to utilize their sampling center, located at The Shops at Ithaca Mall parking lot, open from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday through Friday.

Dr. Martin Stallone, the CEO of Cayuga Health states that the company is committed to supporting their six surrounding counties, such as Cortland, providing services. The Sampling Center recently supported several large local businesses with safe, rapid test results after high impact exposures. They also provide tests daily for essential healthcare workers from Cortland, Tompkins, Schuyler and surrounding counties.

“We will continue to provide daily tests for essential workers from the surrounding communities,” states Dr. Stallone.  “It is important to understand COVID-19 prevalence in a community. Our Sampling Center is easily accessible for Cortland residents. It is less than a 20 minute drive.”

Testing which is offered at no out of pocket expense to residents, and follows CDC guidelines in regard to patient symptoms and/or exposure, consists of swabbing of the throat and nose.

On-line registration for the Sampling Center is available at www.cayugahealth.org, so patients can review the screening criteria and pre-register before their arrival, which has shown to allow for a more efficient experience for patients, with decreased wait times.

A call center has been set up for patients at 607-319-5708, for anyone who may need assistance. Cayuga Health strongly encourages individuals to pre-register online prior to coming to the site.
