Cayuga Health and Kinney Drugs yesterday (August 15) announced the opening of a new affordable walk-in clinic in Cortland, thanks to a combined health care partnership recently formed between the two organizations.
It will be located at the Kinney Drugs at 3666 Route 281 and be staffed six days-a-week with nurse practitioners and physician assistants from Cayuga Health, who are trained and licensed to treat common conditions like cold, flu, fever, coughs, congestion, sore throat and strep, rash or skin irritations.
“The Cayuga Clinic at Kinney Drugs is a collaborative effort designed to provide affordable walk-in access and immediate care, including prescription and over-the-counter medications for common medical conditions,” said Dr. Martin Stallone, CEO of Cayuga Health System and Cayuga Medical Center. “We are extremely proud to offer this exciting new service in the Cortland community and surrounding areas.”
Not only will patients get quality health care from professionals in the Cayuga Health System, they’ll also get the convenient and professional services offered by Kinney Drugs like free prescription delivery, automatic prescription refills, and on-site immunizations.
Medications will be made available quickly through the Kinney Drugs Pharmacy, although patients still have the option to get their prescriptions sent to a different pharmacy of their choice.
“Developing a clinical relationship with a health care team like Cayuga Health, is an important step forward in improving access to quality health care,” said Rebecca Bubel, RPh, Senior Director of Store Operations for Kinney Drugs. “Together, our Pharmacists and the Cayuga Walk-In Clinic staff are advancing community pharmacy by providing an environment for coordinated health care, and helping more people improve their health and wellness.”
The Cayuga Walk-In Clinic at Kinney Drugs will be open every Monday – Friday from 10:00 am – 8:00 pm, as well as Saturday 10:00 am – 6:00 pm. It will be closed for lunch each of those days from 1:30 – 2:30 pm.
No appointments are necessary at the walk-in clinic and wait times are expected to be minimal.
The cost of care is described as “affordable,” with cash, credit card or a personal check all acceptable forms of payment.
On-site staff can provide documentation to submit to patients’ insurance providers. Most insurances are accepted.
