Card Skimming Device Found at Gregg’s Supermarket in Marathon and Save-a-lot in Cortland

The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office says two card skimming devices have been found at grocery stores within Cortland County. One was found at Gregg’s Supermarket in Marathon and a second at Save-a-lot in Cortland. Both card skimming devices were found on a terminal at each store and were found by employees.


The devices were placed on top of the actual credit card scanner, the Sheriff’s Office says. Making it appear to be part of the device. The Sheriff’s Office says if you have checked out at either location within the past week, to monitor your credit card and banking information.

If any charges show up that you believe are fraudulent, contact your bank to report the fraudulent charge(s).

The Sheriff’s Office is also reminding all residents, if you see something unusual, say something by calling 9-1-1 or 607-753-3311.
