Around 9:30 in the morning on Monday, June 5th, officers from the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office and Trumansburg Police Department responded to Maguire Chevrolet on Trumansburg Road for a reported stolen vehicle.
The report stated a Chevy Camaro was stolen from a customer off the lot after it was recently serviced by the dealership. Trumansburg Police were able to locate the vehicle on Main Street in the Village of Trumansburg and were able to make a traffic stop with the Sheriff’s Office assistance and take the suspect into custody.
The suspect, identified as 41 year old Zachary J. Quick of Feura Bush, NY, was taken into custody and charged with Possession of Stolen Property in the 3rd, a Felony, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th, DWI – Drugs, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd, all Misdemeanors, and Unlawful Possession of Cannabis over 3oz, a Violation.
The investigation further found Quick drove his truck to Maguire and was parked when an employee at the dealership was bringing up the Camaro for the customer from the service area. The employee was then approached by Quick who informed the employee that he was the owner of the Camaro and he had already paid for the service. The employee then handed Quick the keys to the car to which Quick left, leaving his truck at the dealership.
He remains in custody until his arraignment.
