C-Ville Town Board Meeting Grants Permit For Byrne, Discusses Paving Parking Area at Gutchess Lumber Sports Complex
An architecture permit was granted to Byrne Dairy Wednesday night at the Cortlandville Town Board meeting. The town will conduct a special meeting next Wednesday, June 25th regarding Byrne’s SEQRA and Aquifer Protection permit application; they will also discuss the siting of a new municipal well for the town.
The new 100,650 square foot production and warehouse space, which will be located at 3156 Byrne Hollow Crossing, will double the facility’s production of milk, heavy cream and half-and-half, said Jim Gosier, general counsel for Byrne Dairy. It is the biggest expansion Byrne Dairy has done in its 93 year history, he said.
“We know that this is going to be a good thing for Byrne Dairy, and we think it’s a good thing for the town of Cortlandville as well,” Gosier said. “When [the expansion] is completed, we will have added another 100 jobs to the 105 that we have there now.”
Also, the Gutchess Lumber Sports Complex’s concessions and office building finally has all of its permits, said Town Attorney Fran Casullo.
“Finally, after a long road, that facility is now up and running,” Casullo said.
The Town Board also discussed potentially paving the parking lot at the facility, which Town Highway Superintendent Larry Drach had previously estimated would cost $42,000. This, however, was only the estimate for the highest traffic area of the lot, he said.
“To do both entrances, it would be an extra $20,000,” Drach said.
Casullo said they may start paving the high traffic area this year, and then budget to pave the rest of the lot at a later time.
“We can’t do everything this year, but at least it would make some people happy,” he said.
Also, the Town of Cortlandville website has officially switched over to cortlandville.gov, but if you type cortlandville.org, you will still be brought to the site. The Cortlandville Town Board and staff’s emails will soon be changed to ending in .gov as well, said Town Clerk Kristin Rocco-Petrella.
