A new Byrne Dairy gas station may soon be on its way to a stretch of Homer that already sees its fair share of traffic congestion.
The proposed site for that venture is the corner of Route 281 (South West) and Cayuga Streets in the village, which includes the former “Homer Quickway” car wash property, as well as a vacant lot adjacent to it.
While it’s still very early the planning process, Mayor Hal McCabe confirmed with WXHC that developers will hold a special closed meeting at the town hall tomorrow (January 28) to further inform certain residents who could potentially be impacted.
Only those who receive an official notice will be allowed to attend that meeting, specifically a block of homes along Nixon Avenue that would border the gas station on its eastern edge.
McCabe said he expects the first meeting to cover site plans and allow these residents a chance to present their initial questions, comments and concerns.
He also assured more meetings would follow in the near future in order to continue discussion throughout the community and ensure any negative side effects are minimized.
