The owners of the Byrne Dairy Yogurt Plant in Cortlandville marked one year of operations yesterday.
The company celebrated with a private picnic and tours of the plant.
Over 400 people stopped by the Byrne Hollow Farm Yogurt Plant in South Cortland yesterday to celebrate the one-year milestone. Many of the attendees were farmers that sell their milk to Byrne.
Company President CEO Carl Byrne says Byrne buys milk from 280 local farmers.
That working relationship is critical to the company’s success.
The plant is currently in production at about 60 hours a week. The company wants to ramp up production over the coming year to 100 hours a week which will mean more jobs.
Byrne says next year the company will begin construction on the new farm to table visitors center which will showcase how their products are made.
The company also plans to add a cheese production at the Cortlandville plant.
