Buller Launches Campaign to Unseat Incumbent Mannion in 22nd Congressional District
On Thursday, March 5, Kailee Buller launched her campaign to unseat Democratic incumbent John Mannion in New York’s 22nd Congressional District. Buller, will run on the Republican ticket and has received the backing of all the Republican and Conservative Party County Chairs within the 22nd district.
New York’s 22nd Congressional District covers a large portion of Cortland County. The municipalities of Cortland, Cortlandville, Homer (town and village), McGraw, Scott, Preble, Truxton, and Cuyler, are all within the district.
Buller is an Auburn native and has been an advocate for food and economic policy, previously serving as a senior official with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. According to a release, her time in the U.S. Department of Agriculture she led the reduction of red tape and supported economic growth for rural communities in the country.
Buller plans to run a campaign focused on lowering costs, restoring public trust, and delivering real results on issues working families face in the Central New York Region. She accused Mannion of voting on party lines after his promise of partisanship while campaigning. She added these actions have led to the rise of utility and living expenses for families. Buller noted Mannion has yet to pass a bill of his own since taking office, and has pulled “juvenile” stunts.
“Conversations with families, farmers, and small business owners across the region have made clear that Central New York needs stronger and more bipartisan representation in Washington. Central New Yorkers are tired of politicians like John Mannion who pull political stunts and show up to photo ops and ribbon cuttings, but deliver nothing. We deserve progress.” Buller said in a release.
Mannion looks to be elected to a second term this November. He was first elected after the state redrew the 22nd district to be more favorable to Democrats, defeating Brandon Williams in 2024.
