Word has slipped out — and a bit of footage — as to how Bruce Springsteen celebrated on Friday night (December 15th) after the 236th performance of his Tony Award-winning production, Springsteen On Broadway. PageSix.com posted among those attending the final night of the run was Sting and wife Trudie Styler, Oprah Winfrey, and Rolling Stone founder Jann Wenner.
After the curtain call, “The Boss” and wife Patti Scialfa crossed the street from the Walter Kerr Theatre to join assorted crewmembers at the “Great White Way” watering hole Hurley’s Pub, where Springsteen hopped on the bar to make a toast and sip a shot. Afterwards, the Springsteen’s were joined by Sting and Styler, along with Oprah and CBS’ Gayle King, longtime Springsteen manager Jon Landau, and his lawyer attorney Allen Grubman, among others for a private bash at Club Room at the Lowell Hotel.
Bruce Springsteen has come to understand that although down time between projects is very important for him, he knows it’s only a temporary thing: “I love to be home, and I don’t have any problem doing nothing — for a while, anyway — but I just still love to write, and play, and sing (laughs), y’know? It’s something that I don’t really quite know how to live without, and it’s still something that thrills me like it did when I was 16, and it’s just something that I need. It’s really a selfish endeavor (laughs) in the end, y’know, it’s just like being hungry, y’know? It just feels like that (laughs).”
