Brockway Truck Show Staying in Homer
The Brockway Truck Show will once again be held in Homer, New York.
During Tuesday night’s Homer Board of Trustees meeting, Brockway Truck Association President Tom Kile asked the board for permission and collaboration to host the Brockway Truck Show on Main Street in the Village of Homer.
This year’s truck show is scheduled for Saturday, August 8 on Main Street following the famous parade. Kile noted that festivities will begin earlier in the week, starting Thursday. He added he has been working with the Department of Transportation in obtaining proper permitting for the parade.
Kile also said this year’s event will be especially meaningful, as a celebration of life for an important member of the Brockway Truck Association will be held Friday at noon during the show weekend.
According to Kile, the response to moving the Brockway Truck Show to downtown Homer has been overwhelmingly positive. He said the event brings people together from across the country and even internationally, with visitors traveling from as far away as Australia. Kile added that attendees consistently praise the Village of Homer for its welcoming atmosphere.
The Board of Trustees voted unanimously to approve the show’s return to Main Street.
Mayor Clune noted the village will review what support it can provide for the event, including items such as portable restrooms.
Kile added that the event has also been a great success for local nonprofit organizations, including the American Legion, the fire department, and local churches.
