At the close of election night on November 2, incumbent Anthony Brindisi trailed former Rep. Claudia Tenney by just under 30k votes in the race for Congressional District 22.
The latest absentee count shows that deficit to have shrunk nearly ten-fold.
About 3,400 votes now separate the two candidates, with more than 9,000 still to be counted in Chenango and Oneida Counties.
Brindisi still needs at least 70% of the remaining votes for a chance at retaining his seat in congress.
In 2018, the same race was one of the closest in the country and wasn’t decided until November 28.
Stay tuned as we continue to track the contest this time around.
